"Thorsten Overgaard is one of my favorite photographers. I liked his work enough to sign up for the one and only photo workshop I've ever attended - in New York City a year ago. It was a lovely four-day photographic immersion. Having spent some hours shooting with Thorsten, when street shooting - most of what we did - Thorsten experimented with light and form and subject. His shooting methodology, as revealed in his photographs, is thoughtful and deliberative."

One-on-one Leica tutoring in New York
New York City, NY, September 7-8, 2022
Private tutoring is always an option, and often New York is a great place to do it. But it can be done in any city in the world you like.

Overgaard Workshop in Paris
Paris, France, September 17-21, 2022
I've come to appreciate Paris after I spent 5-6 months there in 2021. I used to want to leave after 5-6 days, tired of the attitude, sloppy coffee. But I must have changed my mind and been able to get under the skin of this city. I enjoy walking and working in Paris.
This time definitely more people and tourists, but it still works.

"I don't have Leica, but Thorsten's teaching principles applies to whatever camera one use. I bought the Portrait Book several months ago and it was very helpful and very easy to understand. It really helped me understand how to use my Olympus 45mm (90mm FF equivalent) for street portraits much more confidently. I enjoy they youtube videos by Overgaard very much, so I had trust that the books were also of the highest quality. Highly recommend to choose one of his books and you will improve greatly if you read it, take notes in a separate notebook and apply those principles when you go out with your camera."

"This was my first photography workshop, so I had no expectations. It was a workshop with a lot more shooting time than classroom time. This is really a look in to Thorsten's head about what he prioritizes in photography. Thorsten has an amazing eye for subjects and composition, and a radar for great light. These days of exploring a city with Thorsten, and myself as a photographer, were a transformative point in my photographic journey that I will forever be grateful for. I personally just really love his work and wanted to see how much of his mindset I could absorb and he was incredibly open about how he approaches photography. I am very glad I attended." |
