One of the many "mews" in London, which are the back alleys where the stables used to be. Some are just for walking through, but mostly they have been converted from stables to trendy offices and homes. The 5-star Soho Hotel is for example in a mews. They are a welcome change from the daily life on the streets for anyone who has a camera. Walk into one of the mews and enjoy different life and light. Amsterdam Airport
May 2018
The Schipol airport in Amsterdam have severak rooftop spaces. You can't smoke in them, but you can sit and read a book in the sunset and breathe fresh air. After I had done so for half an hour, I noticed the people looking at the view. Not only on the rooftop I was at, but there was also a lot of people on the upper level.

The strange thing was that they were all very quiet, as if they were waiting for the Queen or the Beatles to arrive. None of that was the case, the view is simply airples getting refueled, small cars driving from place to place, and occasionally a plane departing further out in the horizon. I don't know what it is with airplanes, but 50-100 people were just standing there and watching the scene for 20-30 minutes in almst completely silence.

I seldom take photographs of how things simply look in a place, but here is one of the rather funky neighbourhood in Brussels I lived in. I had a mosque on the other side of the street, which wasn't the typical Brussels sreet. Then again, nothing about Brussels is very typical. It's all very mixed after hundreds of years of history ruled by diferent other countries (Ruled in shift by Rome, France, Spain, Netherlands and kings over the centuries, with a revolution in 1830). Now the EC headquartter is locatted in Brussels (belgium being one of the six founding countries), ruling the European Community. It makes sense, but then it doesn't. © 2018 Thorsten von Overgaard.
