"Now you're in New York"
New York, USA, September 1, 2014
© 2014 Thorsten Overgaard. Leica M 240 with Leica 50mm APO-Summicron-M ASPH f/2.0
New York, September 2014: We were sitting outside ACE Hotel, and Bob sat next to me having coffee. He turns to me and asks, "Can you explain that again you said yesterday, there was so much noise around us."
As I start explaining, a black SUV comes up next to where we are sitting, playing Alicia Keys 'New York', mamking sure the whole street can hear it. I continue explaining to Bob as Alicia Keys sings "Noise is always loud, there are sirens all around and the streets are mean"
We look at the dude in the SUV and smile. Alicia keeps singing, "Now you're in New York. These streets will make you feel brand new", and a little later: "Concrete jungle where dreams are made of. There's nothing you can't do."
I finish my explanation, and the coffee. As we go in, I snap this photo of the dude.
"Now you're in New York", Alicia sings as we walk away. back into the hotel.

"I am loving this camera. I am still learning the camera, and I am currently in weekly 'challenges' with two other ladies who own a Nikon and a Cannon and I find my camera takes far better photos. Maybe I'm just a little bit more in love with my camera that they are! -lol-"

"Thorsten, I appreciate the genuine way in which you continue to communicate with your students and admire your success in creating a community of enthusiasts around you.
"I was such a beginner when I did your workshop that it has taken me quite a while to incorporate what you taught us into my photographic life.
" I remember you are not a fan of spending hours on a photo, and nor am I - indeed one of the benefits of the workshop was to show how one could spend more time about and about with the camera."

"Just want to say thank you with a photo, using my new 50mm Noctilux. :)
"You were a big inspiration in making the commitment. The price of it demands that you feel that it is 100% worth the investment. And that’s all theoretical until you get it on your camera and use it. After we emailed, my pregnant girlfriend and I packed up for a trip out to Palm Springs. On the way, I stopped over at the Leica store (they say hi) and they were kind enough to take back the Summilux in exchange (plus some $) for the Noctilux. After a fitful night’s sleep, I couldn’t wait to get up and put it to use.
"There were literally tears in my eyes upon bringing the image in (exactly as is). Thank you for the words of wisdom. I’ve worked with creatives my whole career and this kind of ability to truly convey the grand nuances that matter in creative decisions is what I enjoy the most."

Reid H Bangert is an American Producer and Director born and raised in Southeast Iowa and educated in Midcoast Maine. Through his studies in journalism and film he has centered his craft on Documentary, Lifestyle and Narrative Filmmaking on both an independent and commercial level. Reid believes in a life lived through experiences and not by expectations. In essence, he holds strong value in a constant exploration of his surrounding environments and the people in them as well as sharing and telling their stories.
“I’ve always found immense satisfaction by sharing stories with friends and strangers, it is real and tangible, that old school way of communicating, the foundation of what relationships are built on and how they are maintained. I’m incredibly fortunate to have a career where I not only have the opportunity to create stories and play make believe, but to share important aspects of life and humanity with a larger audience.”
It is through these experiences where Reid garners his inspiration. Whether it is meeting fellow riders on a cross-country motorcycle trip, catching up with old friends by a campfire, or discovering new music, these experiences create what Reid calls: “Moments, or bits of surrealistic euphoria … That, in my opinion, is where kernels of ideas come from.”

I also had time to photograph the Prime Minister of Denmark, Helle Thorming-Schmidt. Here she is visiting a school. Leica M 240 with Leica 50mm APO-Summicron-M ASPH f/2.0.
Tho appreciate this photo of the Danish PM, one has to know her face (in the top left corner) as well as the picture that went around the world of her nd Obama doing a selfie. It has become her trademark to do slfies now, so guess what happens when she meets 800 school kids. They all want selfies with her. Leica M 240 with Leica 21mm Summilux-M ASPH f/1.4.

"I want to tell you how much I appreciate your sharing your life with us in all its dimensions.
"One of the great things I'm learning from you is how to integrated my photography with my whole life.
"Although my style is not yours, I like seeing how everything you do is part of an integrated whole springing forth from your inner core values. I've not done that consistently, and am now striving to do just that.
"Thank you again."

Paris Workshop
Paris, France, September 19-22, 2014
We had a great time in Paris, staying on a houseboat with lots of fresh air and water around us - and only 20 minutes drive to the center of Paris (or one hour walk to the Eiffel Tower). I will be doing the next Paris Workshop in May 2015.

Paris, France, September 25, 2014
We'll did one of our always popular (and free) Artists Night in Paris.. It's the third time, so if you didn't make it to this one, try another one in Paris or somewhere else.
The Artists Night in Paris had many intersting guests. Writers, actors, filmmakers, photographers, painters and more. Always a great experience.
A very short visit to the Luxemburg City
Luxemburg City, Luxembourg, September 28, 2014
There is only 512,000 people living in Luxembourg, and 20% of them live in the Luxemburg City. So we didn't need to stop for more than a few hours to meet them and have dinner. It was on the way, and we wanted to see the city.

A short visit to the Mothership in Wetzlar
Wetzlar, Germany, September 29, 2014
We arrived late in the evening to Wetzlar and went to the Leica Camera AG factoty next morning to talk, get some things fixed, have a look at the upcoming Leica Fotopark and have lunch. The food at Leica is the best and even folks from the surrounding companies go to the Leica canteen to eat lunch. We met a banker from the nearby bank.

Back in the Villa Nøjsomheden
Brabrand, Denmark, September 30, 2014
We have some days in Denmark where we finish projects, plan future projects and all. My daughter Robin has her own projects. One of them is making a journal of her travel from the collected photos, tickets, roadmaps, etc she collected on the trips.
The Villa Nøjsomheden is from 1872 and the name means "Villa Frugality". The saying is that one has to be economical to be able to live in the villa, but in old time the hill where the house in on was Nøjsomhedesbakken (Frugalit Hill).
