Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities for photography. It has a mix of culture, you can get around with English as most people talk it. And it is a city for walking. That makes it perfect for walking around with a camera all day.
You don't need to study the city, you don't need a map. You just walk and have to be able to find back to your bed in the evening. It's very easy.
Student photo by William Lai from the editing part of the workshop. In focus my souvenir of Mao that is now prominently displayed in my home in Denmark.
London, New York, Rome and Paris are the other favorite cities I have. They all have in common that you can walk all day and automatically stumble into the most amazing scenes.
I usually do one or two workshops in Hong Kong every year, and these are some of the pictures the students and I did in November 2014. We usually take three from each as the best of the day. Often they are the photos that are about the workshop. The point being in selecting the three best is to curate ones own photos to the audience in mind; the choice will be different for another group of audience.
The next Thorsten Overgaard Workshop in Hong Kong is in November 2015.
Enjoy!
